Flights – Nearly all flights, including
all the cheapest ones, are to Pisa airport followed by an easy transfer.
There are limited flights to Florence City airport direct from Gatwick
which are generally much more expensive.
Hotels – There’s an excellent range
of 3 star and 4 star hotels right in the centre within easy strolling
distance of the medieval sights and the great galleries and museums,
as well as the shops, cafes and restaurants
Transfers – easy and very cheap by train
from Pisa airport’s own station right into the centre of Florence.
There’s also a connecting coach service. From Florence City
airport it’s a short city bus or taxi ride.
Best Price – in November/January/February
even at weekends prices are as low as £179 per person including
flights, taxes and 2 nights in a city centre 3 star.
Peak Prices - Expect to pay at least £270
per person on a high season weekend.
Money Saving Tip – visit between November
and the end of February to get the very best prices and avoid the
long queues as well. There are also some surprising bargains midweek
in July and August if you book early.
Season – High season is April to June, September
and October, as well as during conventions. July and August hotel
prices are generally lower than other summer months.
